David Gann
Born in Aspen, Colorado, David Gann has spent a lifetime learning about the natural resources of the magnificent west. After graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fishery Management, Dave spent 19 years owning and operating a private trout hatchery near Montrose, Colorado. An accomplished musician, David was selected as a Musical Ambassador in 1991 to represent Colorado in Yamagata, Japan. He is a graduate of the Colorado Agricultural Leadership Class, and was co-founder of the Uncompahgre Valley Leadership Class.
While serving as Montrose County Commissioner, Dave was appointed to the Bureau of Land Management Southwest Resource Advisory Council and also served as the Chairman of the Delta/Montrose Public Lands Partnership.
Ten years ago, his life-long interest in nature and conservation brought him to The Nature Conservancy, where he first met John Hendricks. Working with TNC, Dave has led initiatives on Energy Impact Mitigation, Land and Water Conservation, Climate Change Vulnerability Analysis, and Threatened Species Protection. Dave also worked on special assignment in Panama to protect altitudinal wildlife corridors outside of Bocos del Toro.
In the fall of 2010, he was invited to the Snowmass Mastodon dig and continues to explore his interest in paleontology and archaeology around Gateway Canyons and the Dolores River valley.
